I’m Devonte Hill — a Harris County-based communications and marketing professional with over a decade of experience helping government agencies, legal organizations, and community-focused institutions tell their stories and reach the people who need to hear them.

That background has given me a unique vantage point: I’ve spent years working at the intersection of public information, community engagement, and media — watching how policy decisions get communicated, miscommunicated, and sometimes never communicated at all to the communities most affected by them.

This blog and newsletter is my attempt to close that gap.

My focus is on news and policy that actually affects everyday life — labor, health, food, and culture — at both the Harris County level and nationally. I believe the most important stories aren’t always the loudest ones, and that good commentary means adding context, not just heat.
